Shell Offshore
Shell, one of the worlds leading energy suppliers use two Proven 2.5 EX wind turbines to power an unmanned oil platform in the North Sea.
The platform was previously powered by diesel generators that required constant servicing and frequent refueling. These marine grade turbines are corrosion and explosion proof and are able to withstand the harsh environment of the North Sea.
Regular helicopter trips to the oil platform to fuel and service the diesel generator have been minimised as the Proven Energy turbine requires only annual servicing. Producing up to 10,000kWh of electricity, our turbines provide a reliable constant and robust power solution for Shell.
Proven Energy provide the worlds only turbine designed specifically for offshore oil and gas platforms. The Proven 2.5 Ex is SIRA Certified for use in ATEX zone 1 & 2 and complies with 94/9/EC equipment, used in potentially explosive atmospheres.
The Proven Energy turbine provides independent power reducing diesel run times and the requirement for marine cable. The distinct blade design of the turbine allows for maximum power production and the Proven 2.5 Ex requires only annual servicing. Payback on a Proven turbine for an unmanned oil rig is about thirty minutes.
