ROBUST

Proven Energy provides the world’s only robust, low maintenance turbine. We work closely with clients in a number of key market sectors to make sure their specific electricity generation needs are met.

Proven Energy’s internationally patented turbine has undergone extensive testing under the most rigorous of climate conditions. Our market-leading installations operate successfully throughout the world, from Antarctica to Saudi Arabia.

Unlike upwind turbines, the system works with nature and not against it. It lets you get the most out of any wind speed, helping to maximise your investment.

DESIGN

The patented Proven Flexible Blade System enables the turbine to generate power in light or strong winds. The unique system, a combination of innovative design and the latest techniques in advanced composite technology, allows the blades to bend and flex.

As the wind gets stronger, the blades twist to reduce their aerodynamic efficiency. This lets the Proven Energy turbine maintain a high output even in the fiercest storms, unlike many turbines which need to stop generating power to protect themselves at high wind speeds. The blades also regulate their speed, preventing damage if the load from the turbine is disconnected through a power cut or electrical fault.

LOW NOISE

A Proven Energy turbine is designed to minimise noise and maintenance. It has a direct drive generator, which operates without a gearbox. The generator load is continuously monitored to keep the blades rotating at a low speed, whilst optimising power output.

Compared with other modern small turbines, the blade tip speed of a Proven Energy turbine is low. This means that noise is reduced substantially. All that can be heard is the swish of blades turning in the wind, which is virtually unnoticeable. Low Maintenance

Proven Energy controllers are designed to run the system automatically and display power output from the turbine. The power connectors and turbine brake are easily accessible at the base of the mast.

There is no need for specialist skills. On installation you will receive an easy-to-follow user guide, which gives you all the information you need. We recommend regular maintenance checks for optimum performance. These can be carried out by a local distributor.

Proven 2.5

The Proven 2.5 produces 2.5kW of electricity. This can meet the power needs of a standard three-bedroom home, excluding heating. Any excess energy production can be stored or exported to the grid, depending on local regulations.  The turbine is approximately the same size as a standard telegraph pole.

The robust Proven 2.5 can be used to power small lighting systems in commercial premises. The Proven 2.5EX is widely used on off-shore oil platforms, as it is the only turbine in the world that is totally explosion-proof.

Proven 6

The Proven 6 produces 6kW of electricity. It is able to meet the power needs of a standard house with four to six bedrooms, excluding heating. Any excess energy production can be stored or exported to the grid, depending on local regulations.

The Proven 6 is suited to a broad range of applications. It has been installed in schools, local authority buildings, agricultural small holdings, business and retail premises.

Proven 15

The Proven 15 is the largest Proven wind turbine and is now available to order.  It is able to meet the energy needs of six houses, each with three bedrooms, excluding heating. Any excess energy production can be stored or exported to the grid, depending on local regulations. Please contact your local installer or reseller for a delivery date as demand is high.

The Proven 15 is ideal for commercial applications, including agriculture, telecoms applications, small industrial units and mini wind farms (see our Windcrofting™ proposition).

Energy systems

All Proven Energy turbines are available in three standard systems, which manage the use of the electricity generated.

1) Grid Connection

Electricity is fed directly into your fuse box or distribution board, providing power to your premises. Any surplus electricity produced may be exported to the grid and sold to an electricity provider, depending on local regulations. Convenience and the opportunity to sell excess electricity have made this the most popular option.  For more information on local regulations, contact us, fill in a few details and a local reseller will be in touch to answer your queries.

2) Battery Charging

Energy produced by the turbine is stored in a large battery to provide a power supply. This is most beneficial in remote locations which are not connected to the grid, or which rely on a diesel / oil generator. Installing a turbine can reduce fuel consumption by up to 95% and payback for such sites can be almost immediate. There is also a positive environmental impact when fossil fuel is not used for power generation.

3) Direct Heating

Energy produced by the turbine is directed to hot water tanks, storage heaters or under-floor heating, rather than providing electricity to feed into your power supply.

UK

The Department for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform's (BERR) low carbon buildings programme provides grants for householders.

Grants are available for microgeneration technologies including solar photovoltaic, wind turbines, small scale hydro, solar water heating, heat pumps and bioenergy. The programme also funds renewable CHP, micro CHP and fuel cells.

Scotland

The Scottish Community Householder Renewables Initiative (SCHRI ) provides grants for properties in Scotland. This is funded by the Scottish Executive and managed by the Energy Saving Trust.

Grants are available for solar water heating, solar thermal space heating, small scale wind and hydro systems, ground source heat pumps and biomass. Funding for householders is set at 30% of the installed cost up to £4,000.

If you live in Scotland you can choose to have a SCHRI or a low carbon buildings programme grant. However, you can only apply for one grant per technology from either of these programmes. You cannot have a grant from both programmes for one technology.

The Environment and Renewable Energy Fund provides renewable energy grants for householders in Northern Ireland.
