Proven Energy - History
At Proven Energy we are proud of our unique heritage which dates back almost thirty years. Our founder, Gordon Proven, wanted to create a greener future for Scotland’s electricity and worked tirelessly to install the first of our functioning turbines in 1982.
Having monitored the growing wind industry for many years, Gordon identified the need for a robust wind turbine capable of peak performance in high winds - even in hurricanes and typhoons.
One evening, while practising origami at home, Gordon had a flash of inspiration!
Folding the same piece of paper backwards and forwards, he realised that if turbine blades could twist in a similar way, they could adjust their aerodynamic efficiency in high winds. The outcome of this discovery was the patented Proven Flexible Blade System. It is able to generate power under all wind conditions and has completely eliminated turbine 'shut down'.
Today, Proven Energy is the world’s market leader in the small scale wind sector and has manufactured and installed around 3000 turbines worldwide... and counting!
