wind power used to entertain london

Nigel Greeves, East Kilbride based wind turbine engineer and keen piper, is using the power of wind to entertain and to save the world.

Nigel is a member of The Royal Burgh of Stirling Pipe Band which has been invited to perform with the London Chamber Orchestra on Friday 5th June 2009.  The Band was selected from hundreds of online applicants to perform in full number one outfits on Friday evening in The National Gallery, Trafalgar Square for the ‘Composing Through Art’ concert.

Working with Proven Energy as a Senior Engineer, he has worked on innovative solutions that enable individuals and companies to power their homes and facilities using wind energy.

Nigel has played many prestigious venues including Stirling and Edinburgh Castles and Hopetoun House but admitted he is nervous.  “I started playing the pipes at 30 and also taught my son to play.  He picked it up so quickly that when I rehearse in the house he will come down and tell me that I have played a note wrong!”
