LONDON BOROUGHS, ENGLAND: Ten London boroughs have won funding to make changes and will have access to resources such as energy advisers and renewable energy products. Each winning borough will be awarded at least £200,000 to pioneer energy efficiency and carbon reduction measures in the capital covering 13,000 homes, around 1,000 shops and businesses and 20 schools. And there is good news too for the boroughs who did not make the grade this time. Under United States law, a federal-level investment tax credit (ITC) is available to help consumers purchase small wind turbines for home, farm, or business use. Owners of small wind systems with 100 kilowatts (kW) of capacity or less can receive a credit for 30% of the total installed cost of the system.
Current Status: The ITC, written into law through the Emergency Economic Stabilization Act of 2008, is available for equipment installed from October 3, 2008 through December 31, 2016. The value of the credit is now uncapped, through the ARRA of 2009. Another provision of the ARRA is a new cash grant program through the U.S. Treasury that certain taxpayers may elect to use in lieu of claiming the 30% federal Investment Tax Credit (ITC). However, this grant is NOT applicable to residential consumers (as defined in Internal Revenue Code Section 25D), but rather only to entities as defined in Sections 45 and 48, which, generally, are businesses.
All Proven Energy wind energy systems qualify for the United States federal small wind ITC and cash grant program including the Proven 7, Proven 11, and Proven 35 turbines.
Many other states have additional funding and grant opportunities. For state by state details on all renewable energy and energy efficiency incentives for the USA please visit:

Renewable energies and specifically the type of wind turbines you are going for will need planning permission before you start creating your own power!
The planning departments are there to regulate, enhance and regenerate the areas we live and work in. It is often said that Planning Officers look at the ‘big picture’ to best determine developments that will impact on an area, your area. In your area there may be local policies and national guidelines to adhere to, it is best practice to find this out when applying.
The documents below have been put together by planning professionals to aid you with gaining planning permission. We hope by following our advice and that of your local planning department, you will get planning approval for your wind turbine. Indeed you will be contributing to the ‘bigger picture’ of reducing our impact on the environment.
