Press Packer Thomas's school is going green with an energy-saving wind turbine and he was chosen to switch it on at a special ceremony.
Here is Thomas's story.
"It was a cold day in North Tyneside when my class first saw the wind turbine. It was over 11m high.
We felt so proud and very happy to see it.
Feeling nervous
When the time came to switch on the wind turbine, I was lucky enough to be chosen to cut the ribbon to declare the wind turbine open.
I was very nervous. The whole school and lots of parents came out onto a very muddy field waving mini-windmills to celebrate the opening.
The wind came and the turbine started to turn as I was cutting the ribbon. It was spectacular!
Teaching others
Having the wind turbine means that we will be able to save money as we won't have to use as much electricity.
It will also educate other children about different forms of green energy and how to save carbon.
Saving energy
Our turbine will generate enough energy per year to make 100,000 cups of tea or power 11 computers; Every year it will save over 1 tonne of carbon.
To see how much energy we are producing we have fitted electronic display panels.
These will show pupils and visitors how much electricity has been generated and how much carbon has been saved."
